Find CareBreast cancer screening
Breast cancer remains the most diagnosed cancer in women. With early screenings and by following recommended guidelines, breast cancer can be found early to increase chances of survival.
- Mammograms are recommended every two years for women who are 50 to 74 years old and at average risk for breast cancer.
- Start talking to your doctor at age 40 to plan for when you should get a mammogram and how often based on your family and personal health history.
Cervical cancer screening
Cervical cancer can be serious with a high risk of death when it goes undiagnosed. It is preventable with a vaccine and often treatable if found early by a screening or pap smear.
- Women ages 21 through 65 should receive a Pap smear every three years.
- Ask your doctor about the HPV vaccination.
Chlamydia screening
Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are on the rise. Chlamydia is the most common STI, and women often do not know they have it and do not get treated quickly. If untreated, chlamydia can cause long lasting health problems, leading to infertility and other pregnancy problems. Chlamydia is easily treated with medications and curable.
- Screening for chlamydia and gonorrhea is recommended for all sexually active women 24 years of age and younger. Screening for women 25 years of age and older is recommended only if there is an increased risk of infection.
- Talk to your doctor about getting a preventive chlamydia and gonorrhea screening.
